Penske Warehouse Training Supervisor in Romulus, Michigan

Description:

Penske Logistics is looking for an Warehouse Training Supervisor to become part of an excellent team servicing the nation’s largest grocery store chain at our new location in Romulus, Michigan. The Training Supervisor will assist with the analysis, scheduling and implementation of all classroom training in support of the Warehouse Operations team, to ensure superior workforce preparation. This position is responsible for cultivating a culture of Safety, Production, and General Warehouse best practices.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the development and evaluation of training modules and oversees the implementation of internal systems and procedures to ensure cost effectiveness, consistency and quality of training program development and delivery.

  • Assist with the developing and implementation of training and coaching for new hires at various service levels

  • Teach new warehouse staff weekly in both classroom, warehouse floor, and practical application testing/certifications.

  • Training daily on driving warehouse equipment: Hilo’s, Pallet Jacks, vocollect/ warehouse management systems, and other production standards and procedures

  • Manage, lead and develop training staff.

  • Work flexible hours to meet the training needs of the organization, including weekends/holidays if needed.

  • Work with other departments to achieve the training goals of the Warehouse

  • Manages the updating of training materials, working with departments for accurate and timely updates.

  • Maintain relationships with departments throughout the organization to ensure consistent and clear communication and processes.

  • Assist in the evaluation of the overall work quality for those in training, as well as those who recently completed the classroom training, and establish follow-ups as needed

  • Motivate and engage associates by focusing on team accomplishments and recognition

  • Other tasks as assigned by Management

Qualifications:

  • 1 - 2 years related functional warehouse training experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred

  • Advanced and thorough knowledge of training strategies, including team structure, program/content development, methods of delivery and program evaluation.

  • Strong organizational/time management, project management skills, and multi-tasking abilities along with strong follow through skills.

  • Experience using and training others to use warehouse power equipment, vehicles and various warehouse tools: Hilo’s, scissor lifts, pallet jacks, and vocollect/warehouse management systems

  • Strong written/oral communication skills and the ability to actively listen are required

  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint required

  • Must have ability to connect and build rapport/relationships with associates and external customers at all levels

  • Must have ability to work efficiently with time management and organizational skills

  • Ability to manage through a problem and think and make decisions independently

  • Ability to drive process improvement and lead change

  • Experience with warehouse shipping, receiving, and distribution; Food/Grocery warehousing a plus

  • Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job

  • Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening required.
