Penske Supervisor, Daily Computer Operations in Reading, Pennsylvania

Position Summary:

This role provides supervision of the daily computer operations functions. This includes on and offshore operations team, operations processes, system monitoring, IBM i security, IBM i job scheduling, system communications, DR readiness and 1st level troubleshooting processes. The position is responsible for all daily functions on AS/400’s as well as analysis, scheduling and running jobs for the financial close for ALL PTL & PL companies. Responsibilities also include ensuring that all backups are complete and recoverable and systems are available as scheduled in a 24 x 7 environment. This position is responsible for maintaining high-level AS/400 security including management of system account profiles,groups, objects and system security settings. This role is on-call for after-hours support.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Supervise daily computer operations by establishing daily operating processes to maintain financial and system jobs in a 24x7x365 environment. Assist in performing monthly, quarterly and yearly close activities. Includes resource scheduling and yearly performance reviews.

  • Supervise Off-Shore Capgemini Team including onboarding team members to ensure that IBM i platform meets expected up-time results. Includes weekly report-outs and turnover reviews.

  • Meetings and communications with select business units most directly impacted by IBM i scheduled activities. Activities include (but are not limited to) Role-Swaps, QA Refreshes, Platform outages for hardware or software upgrades.

  • Special Projects and tasks designed to improve efficiency and increase automation. Maintain savings tracker.

  • Ensure SOX compliance for:

-Manage Data – IBM i

-Manage Operations – IBM i

-Manage Changes – OS – IBM i

-Manage Changes – DB – IBM i

  • Perform Outage Scheduling and Notifications for IBM i platforms including meeting with ITDS and MIS teams to resolve conflicts.

  • Participate in scheduled and unscheduled system outages and Triage calls. Coordinate any necessary changes in IBM i job scheduling to meet business requirements during and after these events. Follow up on Root Cause Analysis for any production downtime. These activities may be after hours or on weekends.

  • Other projects as assigned by the manager.

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience working with IBM i OS/400 Operating System (V7R2 or greater) required.

  • 2 years of supervisory or project management experience a plus.

  • Advanced knowledge of the OS400 Operating system and Client Access or ACS required

  • Knowledge of BRMS required

  • Knowledge of system backup strategies required

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of the OS400 and Windows Operating Systems (Linux a plus) is required

  • Must have strong analytical skills and attention to detail

  • Should have good problem solving skills

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office tools required

  • Must have advanced project management skills

  • Must have excellent communication and organizational skills

  • Must be customer focused

  • Ability to be available for after-hours or weekend calls required

  • Must be able to communicate to all levels of management

  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams

  • Must have excellent time management and prioritization skills

  • Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
