Penske Disaster Recovery Administrator in Reading, Pennsylvania


Position Summary:

The Disaster Recovery Administrator (DRA) is responsible for planning, scheduling and participating in Disaster Recovery exercises ensuring that the timelines are followed, issues are escalated and tracked to resolution. The DRA will be one of our system recovery experts in the organization and will fill a vital role in the success of the IT organization by monitoring DR replication status, ensuring we are prepared for a disaster and that processes are in place to meet all Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs) as set forth by the business. The DRA will also be responsible for tracking system testing schedules and results, maintaining Business Continuity Plans for the business, monitoring and maintaining Data Center physical space, participating in IT Triage events and assisting with Data Center maintenance as required.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Plan for, facilitate and report the status of IT Disaster Recovery Testing for PTL and PL Globally

  • Assist with the planning and scheduling of Disaster Recovery tests

  • Participate in and/or lead DR tests as required

  • Document DR testing results and collect test “sign-offs”

  • Work with IT and Business leads to identify defects and drive remediation

  • Plan for and participate in Data Center activities

  • Work with team to monitor the Green Hills physical space including power, A/C, fire suppression, ensuring that all documentation is kept current

  • Ensure that Green Hills Data Center equipment inventory is up-to-date

  • Assist IT Teams during system outages or disaster recovery events

  • Work with IT groups to ensure DR Replication and system health metrics have proper alerting mechanisms

  • Ensure DR documentation is up-to-date

  • Other projects as assigned by the supervisor


  • Associate's degree or equivalent IT training required. Bachelor’s degree in a related computer field is preferred.

  • Certifications in Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery (ABCP, CBCP) a plus.

  • Green Belt and/or Lean Certification preferred

  • Two years of utilizing project management processes is a plus.

  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office is a plus.

  • Fundamental awareness of the following:

-DB2, Oracle and SQL databases

-Storage solutions (IBM, EMC, NetApp)

-Replication technologies (SRDF, IIDR, Global Mirror, Informix)

  • Demonstrated understanding of Penske processes such as: Penske Change Control, PDP and PIP

  • Know how to break technical solutions into logical units and have the ability to explain or demonstrate to others.

  • Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job

  • Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening are required.
