Penske Lead Load Planner (Logistics) in Brockville, Ontario



Penske Logistics is looking for a Lead Load Planner to become part of an excellent team. This is a great opportunity for an individual who is self-motivated, has strong analytical and computer skills, strong attention to detail and is enthusiastic to work in a customer-centric environment. This position is responsible for performing scheduling services and load management activities that support and facilitate inbound and outbound shipments. This position interfaces with multiple people at a plant and will play in an integral part in achieving the customer’s goals and objectives.


  • Attend daily/weekly/monthly planning/production meetings in support of logistics

  • Support Penske management with process improvement activities and customer communication

  • Update Transportation Management System with current shipment information

  • Work in customer ERP system as necessary to process orders

  • Process customer orders, plan & optimize shipments into loads, tender freight to third-party carriers

  • Work directly with 3 rd party bulk carriers on scheduling changes and approve accessorial activities

  • Provide detailed work instruction to various associates and from other departments / shifts to ensure delegation of duties during shift change

  • Respond to internal and external customer inquiries

  • Provide visibility to management and the customer by tracking, process over-sight, auditing, researching and troubleshooting operational issues or functions

  • Act as first/second level escalation for customer inquiries

  • Provides load exception investigation and reporting

  • Identify cost savings opportunities for the customer and participate in value projects, including implementation on-site

  • Best practice sharing amongst all sites

  • Works with Operations Managers to ensure customer expectations are met

This position supports the day shift


  • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred (Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management / Logistics in lieu of industry experience is preferred)

  • Experience in Logistics Services including distribution, or supply chain management is preferred

  • Transportation Management and previous load planning experience preferred

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize time sensitive situations in a fast paced environment

  • Candidate should possess problem solving skills and ability to communicate solutions.

  • Ability to work independently as an on-site representative working with support teams at the central control tower

  • Ability to prioritize customer and business needs and drive customer delight

  • Excellent communication, organizational & PC skills (including Microsoft Office products).

  • Attention to detail & accuracy

  • Ability to learn quickly and multi-task

  • Sense of urgency & ability to understand customer requirements

  • Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
