Position Summary:
A Penske Warranty Product Specialist (WPS) negotiates warranty support with various vehicle and component manufacturers. A WPS is expected to oversee his or her assigned suppliers with respect to failure analysis and manufacturers’ recalls, as well as warranty recovery, outstanding receivables, and technical information. This position will serve as the primary warranty liaison for the manufacturer and our associates working at over 700 facilities nationwide. The WPS will relay critical information from the manufacturer(s) to Penske associates in the field, Warranty Processing Supervisor and to Warranty Accounting Supervisor as appropriate. This position will support the field associates on fleet issues and/or emerging issues that could affect a large population of vehicles. This is a dynamic role and the ability to handle multiple tasks and competing priorities is mandatory.
Major Responsibilities:
-Manage supplier relationships
-Analyze failure data and work with suppliers to develop solutions
-Interact with suppliers to develop improved processes
-Identify opportunities for negotiating financial support from suppliers
-Provide product information to field associates
-Work as liaison between field associates and manufacturer representatives
-Develop communication materials to be shared with field associates
-Conduct training sessions to educate field on warranty processes and best practices
-Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor
- 2-3 years of vehicle maintenance experience. Experience as a technician, service manager, or with warranty processing
- 2-3 years of supplier management and/or contract negotiation experience
- 4 year degree required or a combination of education and related work history, preferable degrees in mechanical or mechanical engineering
- Excellent negotiations skills
- Strong written/oral communication, analytical problem solving and conceptual skills and multi-tasking skills
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint-Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening are required
