Environmental Compliance Engineer in Reading Pennsylvania United States

Position Summary:
This position is responsible for supporting the companys sustainability efforts, and ensuring compliance with various environmental regulations including wastewater/stormwater discharges, aboveground/underground storage tanks, spill prevention, control and countermeasures plans (SPCC), hazardous and non-hazardous waste disposal, OSHAs Hazard Communication Standard and other regulatory requirements that effect the business. Additionally, this position is responsible for providing analytic support for the development of compliance and sustainability strategies.

Major Responsibilities:
Assist with implementation of company environmental programs related toAir, Community Right-to-Know, Environmental Training, Environmental Auditing, Hazardous/Non-hazardous Waste, Hazard Communication, Spill Prevention and Control, Sustainability Initiatives, Underground/Aboveground Storage Tanks, and Wastewater/Stormwater.

Prepare and submit annual/periodic reports, permit applications, regulatory plans, survey requests, and other regulatory agency information requests or correspondence as required for various environmental programs.
Prepare enivronmental reports/letters/plans and assist field locations with corrective action related to compliance issues identified during regulatory inspections
Coordinate with vendors and contractors, performing environmental services including but not limited to waste disposal, subsurface investiagtions, compliance testing, etc.
Develop and implement environmental training programs and conduct training at the Corporate office and in the field.
Assist with cleanup of over-the-road spills.
Obtain and analyze environmental data (i.e., waste generation, storage tank compliance, sustainability, etc.) to identify trends and oppurtunities. Implement solutions to ensure compliance, reduce costs, improve cycle times, etc.
Provide support to other Departments (Facilities, Real Estate) related to environmental issues.
Coordinate inspections/investigations and any necessary corrective action to address environmental issues (i.e., subsurface investigations, asbestos, mold, indoor air quality).
Assist in the development and integration of the company wide information management system
Develop and update technical guidance for internal Environmental Compliance Manual.
Experience Required: 3 to 5 years of experience working in the environmental field.
Education Required: B.S. Degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering, Occupational Safety or other applicable field.
Knowledgeable of environmental regulations as they relate to the transportation industry. These regulations include, but are not limited to: Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, Oil Pollution Act , Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), CERCLA, EPCRA, and the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA)
Certifications: Applicable certifications including but not limited to Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Professional Geologist (PG), Registered Environmental Manager (REM), Registered Environmental Professional (REP), or other applicable certification.
Skills: Proven leadership with the ability to work within teams, management skills, and process management and improvement skills. Demonstrated facilitation, change agent, and workout skills. Interpersonal skills, including influencing and relationship building. Deal with a diverse and multinational group of internal and external customers, and local, state, and federal regulators and municipalities, contractors, and other property and business owners. Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills; be decisive, confident, organized and creative.
Software: Must have a complete grasp of environmental laws/regulations and the companys business operations, and be able to use this knowledge to develop technology solutions aligning with major responsibilities above. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products (Microsoft Access, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint). Must also be able to develop and utilize on-line vendor portals and web site applications.
Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening are required
