Penske Director, Talent Development & Sales Development in Reading, Pennsylvania
The purpose of this position is to lead and direct an effective system of learning and development that strengthens performance of associates across all major business units in Penske Truck Leasing. Additionally, this role will have responsibility to increase sales effectiveness across both Penske Truck Leasing and Penske Logistics through strong collaboration with senior sales and operational leadership.
In this role, one of the primary functions will be to align 3 distinct sales groups in our organization through alignment and sales development program design. You will manage a team of Sr. L&D consultants supporting major lines of business. Direct the quality and effectiveness of a portfolio of programs. Establish strategic partners and preferred providers.
Qualified candidates for this role will have held at least 6 years of prior specific role in Talent Development with demonstrated experience in Sales Team Development in a large or midsized corporate environment. A strong fundamental understanding of sales processes, sales models, and functional competencies of sales are required. Foundational knowledge of instructional systems design, leadership theory, and adult development have been demonstrated. A Master’s degree or equivalent years of work experience required, preferred concentrations of education, organization development, business, or psychology. qualified will come from specific L&D.
This position is based out of our corporate offices in Reading, PA, 75 minutes northwest of Philadelphia.
Lead, coach and develop team members in delivering high impact learning experiences and resources given evolving learning technologies and pedagogies. Lead a team that actively participates in expert practitioner and academic forums to ensure Penske benefits from the most innovative and impactful thought leadership and that team members’ level of practice is on par with the best in the marketplace.
Lead the creation and delivery of a portfolio of learning solutions for strategic business functions that build high performance functional competencies. Ensure offerings reflect thought leadership as well as innovative and progressive learning and development practices.
Direct the planning, evolution, development, implementation and administration of all strategic business units’ learning and development programs and initiatives. Develops long-range goals and objectives. Builds and analyzes the return and impact of all programs. Establish metrics that help improve transfer and impact of learning.
Develop a network of strategic partners and thought leaders aligned to Penske’s Sales force development priorities. Accelerate the path to productivity of new sales associates and continually increase the effectiveness of existing sales talent. Work directly with the Sales Leadership and external thought leaders in diagnosing the strengths and areas of opportunities and identifying learning and development priorities.

Master’s degree or equivalent work experience in education, organization development, business, psychology, or a complimentary field is required.
6 years of previous Sales, Learning & Development and/or Talent Development within midsize to large corporate environment is required.
Extensive knowledge of Sales processes and related through leadership required
Strong foundational knowledge in areas of instructional systems design, leadership theory, adult development.
Knowledge of adult education theories and their utilization in the development of functional training platforms
Demonstrated experience working both globally and cross-functionally
Experience in working both independently as well as collaboratively in the delivery of high stakes, high profile projects.
Excellent team facilitation and platform training skills; executive presence, and performance consulting skills.
Excellent people leadership skills; Experience in building high performing team(s).
Ability to build foster and maintain positive and collaborative working relationships at all levels of the organization
Quick to see the big picture and interdependencies and have a sharp eye for details.

Ability to travel up to approximately 10% is required.
