Penske Clerk - Shipping/Receiving (Logistics) in Grand Prairie, Texas


Position Summary:

Penske Logistics is looking for warehouse associates to become part of an excellent team with one of the nation’s largest coffee chain. This is a great opportunity for individuals who are safety conscious and have a pleasant, outgoing attitude who want to excel in a warehouse environment.

Penske Warehouse - Receiving Clerks are responsible for checking the trailer loads of product received from vendors and/or backhauls. This position also directs trailers to receiving doors through security and oversees the unloading of vendor goods to the dock, once unloaded the receiving clerk verifies case count and appropriate receiving paperwork.

This is a 2nd shift position. Start time is 4:30pm. Days off will vary as this is a 24/7 operation.

Major Responsibilities:

Job responsibilities may include:

-Attends daily pre-shift meeting, receives assigned dock area

  • Using a warehouse management system, identifies paperwork and dock doors for trailers

  • Accepts or declines loads based on direction from Customer Representatives/Account Managers

  • Greets and meets with truck drivers to get paperwork

  • Opens and closes dock doors

  • Communicates with warehouse department/management to unload trailers at assigned dock doors, reporting any problems to management

  • Check product as received on dock, including recording temperatures of trailers, documenting product appearance, measuring cases, identify integrity/safety of product, tag and scan pallets and products into warehouse management system, provide completed paperwork to the drivers

  • Maintain a clean and safe work area

  • Complies with all safety requirements

  • Complete daily logs

  • Communicate with associates from other shifts

  • Uses computer to enter records

  • Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor


-At least 1 year of warehousing or material-handling (using hand/power tools and hand truck) equipment experience required

  • Prior inventory or receiving experience preferred

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Prior use of warehouse management systems and scanners preferred

  • Basic computer skills and the ability to learn in-house systems required

  • Must be able to work varied schedule including weekend and early morning shifts

  • Flexible to work overtime preferred

  • Ability to read, write, and speak English required

  • Ability to follow directions, and basic math skills required

  • Requires the ability to pay close attention to details, meet deadlines, and work with difficult individuals

-Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening.
